Why "De Magno Opere"?

I probably should have done this post awhile ago, but better late than never...

So, what does "De Magno Opere" mean? What language is it? And why in the heck did I choose that name? (Those seem to be the usual questions.)

First, De Magno Opere is latin, and very loosely translated is supposed to mean "The" (De) "Great" (Magno) "Work" (Operae). Now, you may notice, "Operae" is not the same as "Opere". There's a good reason for that.

"Operae" is actually "work", but I screwed up and used "opere" instead.

Close enough I guess...

As to why I chose it, it's important to talk about where it comes from first. There is a part of a sentence in the old latin Bibles that says "magnoopere". It means "greatly" or "very greatly" (roughly) and in relation to the latin "maximus" ("great") "magno" means roughly the same thing ("great") in a very different way - such as this "great work" is for a higher purpose rather than being descriptive of the work being done on the blog itself. More on that below.

As to why I chose this title, well, I sorta just said why. It's a term from the Bible (I forget which chapter) that appealed to me for many reasons. Religious and philosophical reasons mostly, but it also seemed to fit very well what the work of restoring the United States is... The Great Work.

Plus since I really have a massive desire to destroy Dominionists and Theocratic liars whenever I see them pop up, it seemed appropros to use a biblical term for that purpose.

And there you have that!
